Isole e Olena are widely regarded as one of Chianti Classico's highest quality producers. Located on the western side of the Classico zone, where vineyards are more exposed to the cooling influence of the sea, Isole e Olena's wines are particularly fragrant, silky and elegant.
Run since the 1950s by the De Marchi family, current incumbent Paolo De Marchi was one of the first in Chianti Classico to return to the hillside vineyard plots formerly abandoned due to their poor soil and low yields, recognising that low crop levels resulted in hugely increased quality.
