Cesari are a renowned historic producer in the Valpolicella area of Italy's Veneto region, near to the city of Verona. Founded by Gerardo Cesari in 1936, the efforts made during the 1960s and 70s by his son Franco to expand the fame of Cesari's Amarone saw it become one of the most well-known examples worldwide of this traditional Italian red.

Cesari's Bosan vineyard - a particularly favoured south-facing slope planted exclusively with high-quality local varieties Corvina and Rondinella - continues to produce some of the most acclaimed wines of the region. Both the Amarone and Ripasso wines made from Bosan fruit are rated as amongst the best examples of their styles available from any producer.

While the Bosan Amarone offers fabulous concentration and will last for decades, the Bosan Ripasso, made as a normal Valpolicella, but fermented for a second time with a generous handful of Amarone fruit added to the blend, drinks much younger, and offers more than a hint of its older sibling's mouth-filling, velvety fruit, at a snip of the price.
