Romano dal Forno is one of the most successful and well-known producers in Valpolicella. For more than 30 years he has been producing deeply concentrated Valpolicella, Amarone and Recioto, and has become something of a legend in the Veneto region. Establishing his reputation through hard work, he is on a quest for absolute quality. The vineyards are actually located outside of the Classico region for Valpolicella, though dal Forno manages to grow the main grape varieties used for these wines, Corvina and Rondinella, outstandingly well by using very small yields and rigorously selecting the grapes before they go to the winery. He is focused on getting the varietal character from his grapes during fermentation and maceration, so pays meticulous attention to every detail. It is this perfectionism that makes Romano dal Forno’s wines extraordinary.
