Winemaker Arianna Occhipinti's first-rate wines have only been available internationally since 2005, but each year her reviews seem to get better and better. She's already seen as a significant figure in Sicilian wine, which for someone still only in their mid-twenties is quite a feat.

Occhipinti is situated in Vittoria, in the southwest of Sicily, about 15km from the Mediterranean sea, with the vineyards 250m above sea level. Her 10 hectares of Nero d'Avola and Frappato have been farmed biodynamically since 2009, which she believes helps the wines fully express the terroir.

As well as single wines made up of Nero d'Avola and Frappato, Arianna also makes a blend of both, SP68, named after the road outside her house. The wines are made naturally, with fermentation occurring spontaneously, no fining, filtration or temperature control and minimal sulphur additions at bottling.

Arianna describes her wines as 'full of energy and emotions', and the reviews speak for themselves.
