From the same team that produce the Moobuzz Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Leese-Fitch is a range of varietal wines that combine the exuberant fruit that is typical of California, with a sense of vibrancy and freshness that makes them perfect to drink with food. Named for the historic Leese-Fitch building in the town of Sonoma (just down the road from the winery), the wines are made from fruit sourced from a range of top California AVAs and offer great bang for buck.
The spritely Sauvignon Blanc, fermented and aged in steel tank, is full of ripe lemon and lime flavours, with green apple and cut grass notes – a refreshing wine that focuses on the fruit rather than the vegetal characters of the variety. The Zinfandel (80% of which is Lodi fruit) shows off the classic features of the grape, with vibrant red berry fruit and a hint of sweet spices and chocolate on the palate. A dusting of vanilla from the American oak ageing adds complexity, but first and foremost this is a fun red wine that is a real crowd pleaser.
