This is a top Cabernet Sauvignon from one of the most influential women in wine, using only the fruit from a single vineyard. This is one of the last old Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in the Napa Valley. Its scraggly clusters of tiny berries yield extremely limited quantities of dark, concentrated and aromatic single-vineyard wine that speaks eloquently of place. Ageing beautifully, the 2017 has garnered high praise with 96 pts from James Suckling and 93 pts from Antonio Galloni.

" The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Kronos Vineyard is extremely expressive, even in the early going, with plenty of the mid-palate sweetness and raciness that is such a signature of the site. The brutal heat notwithstanding, the Kronos has retained many of its classic flavour and texture signatures. Tobacco, leather, spice, game, wild cherry, liquorice and lavender add striking shades of nuance. I can't wait to taste it with some bottle age. The distinctive character of these vines - many of them planted in 1971 on St. George rootstock - really comes through. Cathy Corison's Kronos Cabernet is one of the few 2017s that has real upside."
Established in 1971 and acquired by Corison in 1995, Kronos proudly stands as one of Napa's few remaining old Cabernet vineyards. Planted on resilient St. George rootstock, these organically farmed vines might be limited in their yields, but they consistently deliver wines of profound depth, aroma, and complexity.
Cathy's winemaking philosophy is deeply rooted in her respect for the vineyards. Recognising the inherent power of Cabernet Sauvignon, she aims to harness its strength while embracing elegance. This equilibrium is achieved through meticulous vineyard management, ensuring grapes reach optimal ripeness with a retained vibrancy. In the winery, her non-interventionist approach lets the grapes express themselves. Post-fermentation, the wines mature for 20 months in French oak barrels, allowing for a nuanced development of character.
