Found on Mt. Eden in the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA, the Peter Martin Ray vineyard dates back to the late 1800s and was one of the first sites in California to be planted with Pinot Noir. Replanted in 1979, the old dry-farmed vines cling to the rocky landscape at over 420m elevation. The depleted, exposed shale soils are notoriously nutrient poor and the vines work hard to generate low yields of fruit with incredible concentration and depth.
