Domaine Dupeuble has once again produced one of the best value Beaujolais we've ever tasted. It's sourced from 50 to 100 year old vines, with the same approach of tiny yields, strict fruit selection and natural winemaking of the best Burgundy estates. Vines are tended on granite soils - like the Crus to the North - without the use of intensive chemicals. In return it offers beautifully silky tannins and unparalleled concentration, depth and intensity of dark berry fruit. This wine is made to drink young. To best capture its raspberry fruit aromas, serve it lightly chilled in a large Burgundy glass, and partner with saucisson. It also pairs particularly well with “quelle surprise” – Lyonnais cuisine such as coq au vin, and is also really enjoyable with North African dishes such as an aubergine and courgette tagine.
Made from Chianti Classico fruit, but labelled as plain Sangiovese; this is exceptional quality for the money.
