Full Bodied Reds

Full-bodied red wines are the heavyweight champions of the wine world, giving a satisfying feeling of weighty roundness in the mouth. These full-bodied reds are typically grown in the warmer regions of the world, from grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec or Shiraz, which love the way warm sunshine ripens their thick, deeply coloured skins.

If you’re looking for the most classic example of a full-bodied red, travel to the Pauillac commune of Bordeaux, famed for its muscular take on the Cabernet Sauvignon blend. In recent years, Argentina has become famous for its full-bodied Malbec wines, made from grapes grown high up in the Andes, where the thin air and intense sunlight generates ultra-ripe fruit.
