Light Red Wines

Light red wines tend to be low in tannins, but find balance with fresh acidity that compliments the fruit flavours. They are often made using grapes that have quite a thin skin, making light red wines naturally lower in tannin. Good examples of this are Pinot Noir, Gamay, Grenache and Cinsault. Light in body doesn’t mean light in flavour or structure, and some of the finest red wines in the world fit neatly into this style category. These light red wines are great options to pair with a variety of food, and if you dislike white wine you can even experiment with pairing lighter red wines with fish. Serve with a light chill if you fancy mixing things up too.
