"Opulent mouth filling black fruit, bitter chocolate and some herbaceous notes. The tannins are ripe and acidity finely formed around the fruit and it finishes long." decanter.com, 91 pts
Clotilde is the first female winemaker in an extremely long lineage dating back to the 17th Century. One of the earliest recorded producers in Saumur-Champigny, The Legrand Family farm 16 hectares of Cabernet Franc on twenty separate parcels across Saumur, Dampierre, Chacé, Varrains and Souzy-Champigny. Vines date back an average…
Made from 100% Chenin Blanc, this is the only white wine that Clotilde produces. Harvested carefully by hand, from organic vines, it is a clean and fleshy white that perfectly bridges the gap between winter and spring drinking.
Sustainability is very important to Clotilde, and she has put a lot of time and energy into ensuring her wines aren’t just delicious, but also good for the planet. Her ‘Lizieres’ Saumur rouge is a wonderful example of how this time and effort has paid off. Made from sustainably grown Cabernet Franc, this wine is bursting with black and red fruit, with a lovely crunchy texture.
