A rare rose-hued delight from the 100-year-old Fanucchi-Wood Road Vineyard. Fresh notes of summer melon and stone fruit, with whispers of white tea and wet rock. A renaissance of a nearly forgotten grape, foot-crushed and naturally fermented to maintain its vibrant character. Perfectly paired with seafood, salads, or creamy goat cheese. - 17.5 points - JancisRobinson.com

"Light garnet. Smells of forest berries, wet pavement and dried herbs. Distinctly saline flavours of raspberry and crushed stones mix with dried herbs and dried citrus peel. Fantastic acidity and deeply mineral notes linger with the dried herbs in the finish. Savoury, crunchy but mouth-watering at the same time. Outstanding." - Alder Yarrow, JancisRobinson.com, 17.5 points

QUICK FACTS:

  • Trousseau Gris is a rare grape rooted in France’s Jura region
  • Grown exclusively at Fanucchi-Wood Road Vineyard, the only known home for Trousseau Gris in California, and likely the US

TASTING PROFILE:

  • Fresh bursts of summer melon and stone fruit, paired with a subtle hint of white tea and wet rock
  • Pale pink salmon colour from extended contact with skins

IN THE VINEYARD:

  • Exclusively sourced from Fanucchi-Wood Road Vineyard in the Russian River Valley, where Trousseau Gris was rediscovered amongst ancient Zinfandel vines
  • Peter and Arcangelo Fanucchi spearheaded the growth of this unique grape in 1981

IN THE WINERY:

  • Grapes are foot-crushed and macerated for days, then naturally fermented in neutral containers, preserving the pure and lively character of the wine

RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • This is the perfect intro to this almost forgotten grape
  • Will enhance the fresh flavours of light seafood dishes, fresh salads, or creamy goat cheese
