From the revered Trout Gulch Vineyard in Santa Cruz—a region even older than Napa—comes Jamie Kutch's standout 2021 Chardonnay. With a 95 from Jamie Goode and a 92-94 from Antonio Galloni, this isn't just any Chardonnay. Sourced from 40-year-old vines and crafted with minimal fuss, it's a masterclass in Californian elegance and terroir. Lemon peel and white flowers take centre stage, backed by the vineyard's signature minerality. Highly recommended!

IN THE PRESS

"Nine-barrel blend from a vineyard at 600 feet planted in 1977. Really aromatic with notes of pineapple, pear and lemon as well as some spice and nuts, with some mandarin, too. The palate is so vivid, lively and tangy, showing a good concentration of lemon and orange peel notes, with a hint of hazelnut and some sweet spicy frills, finishing with some sweet baked lemon notes. There’s almost a bit of musqué grapey quality here." - Jamie Goode - 95/100

"The 2021 Chardonnay Trout Gulch is a super-classic wine off this site in the southern reaches of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Crushed rocks, slate, mint, pear and white flowers infuse the 2021 with real dynamic intensity. The layers and nuance here are just beguiling. The 2021 is shaping up to be superb." - Galloni – 92-94 pts
