This excellent-value white comes from the Abruzzo region of central Italy. The gentle Adriatic breezes play their part in creating a favourably mild climate that yields well-balanced whites.
Clean, zingy and dangerously drinkable this Auxerrois is a regular go-to for a weekday wine. Auxerrois home is in the Alsace but is also grown in neighbouring Germany and this Pfalz expression has ripe & pure summery flavours with a low alcohol and medium acidity.
In other regions, it goes by Chasselas, but in Germany it's known as Gutedel. Wonderfully refreshing, it's rather similar to some Chablis or even Muscadet. This is a cracking value white wine made from an unfancied varietal.
Grapes in a glass. Made from the ancient, small berried, golden skinned Muscat variety this is a highly aromatic wine with real finesse and vibrancy. Perfumed aromas and sweet fruit flavours are perfectly counterbalanced with a stony dry finish.
Winemaking has been a part of the May family for over 300 years but it was in 1998 that they went under their own label. Promoting ecological winemaking, their aim is to "taste what nature created" and are certified organic. Their passion is Silvaner, which thrives in the barren, fossilised soils of Franken. Bright and appealing with a freshness and pronounced minerality define this high quality wine that is fantastic value.
A top quality Picpoul de Pinet from one of the few small, artisan producers in the area. Deliciously dry and refreshing.
This dry Riesling from the Dreissigacker family is fruit-forward and perfect as an everyday wine. Vinified in stainless steel for 6 months, the freshness and minerality is well preserved.
Celler Pardas' mantra is preserving the balance and health of their land, choosing to farm organically without irrigation. Their wines display a true reflection and expression of the vineyards. This mouth-watering blend of native varietals: Xarel·lo, Malvasía de Sitges, and Xarel·lo Vermell has a refreshing chalky texture and pure citrus fruit on the finish.
A fascinating white wine made from indigenous varietal Pinela from the Vipava valley in Slovenia. Guerila founder Zmago Petrič lets nature do the talking, employing biodynamic principles in the vineyard and cellar. Hand picked, natural fermentation, zero use of oak and no filtration means this wine showcases nothing but the grape.
A deliciously pure, fruity southern Rhône blend of Roussanne and Viognier, Plein Sud is characterful, fresh and elegant.
Lively & fresh with a gentle concentration but this is clearly a cut above a stereotypical Pinot Grigio. Subtle fruit flavours and aromas are accompanied by nuttiness and herbal notes all balanced with a refreshing finish.
Wittmann is to German winemaking as Mercedes is to car manufacture. They are one of the leading wineries in the Rheinhessen and a pioneer in Germany's new wave, producing biodynamic wines with terroir expression and extreme precision. This wine has a great lemony acidity and a long dry finish with a hint of wet stone.
Holger Koch's wines are very much German with a French accent. This Weissburgunder is similar to the very best of Alsace Pinot Blanc. Grown on higher elevation, windy terraces atop the Kaiserstuhl hills, that produce pure, perfectly ripe grapes with balanced flavour and texture.
Founded in 1833 by pharmacist and inventor Friedrick Koch - the winery has vineyards in some of the highest classified slopes above Oppenheim and Dienheim. This half-dry Riesling is made from old vines located on the boarder between the two towns.
This wine from the brilliant Domaine des Cognettes is a reminder of just how good top-quality Muscadet can be. From the best producer, in the best area of Muscadet, it's an absolute steal.
A 75cl bottle of Oppenheimer Güdelmorgen Grauburgunder 2021 by Weingut Carl Koch. A white wine from Germany. Made from Pinot Gris.
A distinctive bottling of Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris) that is full of character and totally unique. Fresh and clean with textural complexity with a blushed coral colour and aromas of pink grapefruit, lemongrass. A wonderful alternative to rosé wine.
Limestone rich soils are quite possibly Chardonnay's best friend lending the wines stony minerality and a crisp and lively freshness that goes so well with the nutty, subtle fruit characteristics. Barrel aging gives elegant roasted aromas and complement the creamy full texture of this wine. If you like Meursault, you must try this! And it's a third of the price!
Quenard's very rare white, made from local grape Jacquère, is one of the most sought-after wines, from the most sought-after producer, of France's stunningly beautiful Savoie region.
A truly captivating blend of 4 varietals grown from one of Stellenbosch's oldest single vineyards. Highly perfumed in the glass with layers of floral & tropical fruit notes. Roussanne and Viognier add richness and texture, while Chenin Blanc and Verdelho add bright fruit and acidity. The wine is delicately oaked, and handled as carefully and naturally as possible. A true delight that is consistently among the best received South African white wines.
