U.S.A. > California > Santa Cruz
Found on Mt. Eden in the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA, the Peter Martin Ray vineyard dates back to the late 1800s and was one of the first sites in California to be planted with Pinot Noir. Replanted in 1979, the old dry-farmed vines cling to the rocky landscape at over 420m elevation. The depleted, exposed shale soils are notoriously nutrient poor and the vines work hard to generate low yields of fruit with incredible concentration and depth.

Deep, dark ruby colour with potent aromatics. Concentrated black cherry and  raspberry with forest floor, dried herbs & gamy qualities. Powerful on the palate with muscular structure and bold intense flavours.
The vines were planted in 1979 and are 100% organically farmed.
The vineyard is still under the care of Peter Martin Ray.
Ability to cellar for up to 10 years but drinking well now.
Pair with miso mushroom risotto.
