90/100 - Green olives and pie cherries mark the nose of the 2016 Cote Rotie Rose Pourpre, which is drawn from the lieu-dit of Côte Rozier. It's medium-bodied, with tart, mouthwatering fruit and a silky finish. - Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate

92/100 - Opaque ruby. Powerful cherry, dark berries, olive and smoky minerals on the highly fragrant nose. Juicy and broad on the palate, offering bitter cherry, blackberry, candied violet and spicecake flavors that unfurl slowly on the back half. Shows impressive clarity and finishes on a smoky note, with resonating spiciness and rounded, even tannins that sneak in late. - Josh Raynolds, Vinous

19+/20 - Quite a bit of oak spice impressed upon the nose here, which is impressive and open but risks becoming overdone. Then the fruit is absolutely pristine – crunchy, fresh, concentrated black bramble fruits with a touch of earth and mushroom on the finish. - Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com

94/100 - Darker in fruit than his Esprit de Blonde, this has fresh blackberry amongst the raspberry fruits. Again, the oaky clove note is quite present, but it works in harmony with the fruit aromatics. Full-bodied, but only just, with very fine but ample tannin, good acidity and a long finish. 50% new oak. - Matt Walls, Decanter

93/100 - This steps into wild, peppery territory with fresh, blueberry pastry making for one very attractive, young Côte-Rôtie. The palate has a smooth, ripe shape, coated in powdery tannins. Plum and spiced chocolate to close. Drink or hold. - James Suckling

The vines for this bottling are grown on a 0.8-hectare parcel located in the south-facing Côte Rozier amphitheatre. This region benefits from a notably warm microclimate, thanks to the dry stone walls that reflect the day’s heat. This unique location brings power and concentration to the wine.

The colour is opaque purple with deep and richly layered aromatics.
Aromas of ripe cassis and blackberries mingle with spiced and dried fruits, liquorice and a hint of leather.
On the palate, power meets with elegance, marked by an incredibly generous body and tightly coiled, ripe fruit flavours underpinned by intricate structure and mineral freshness.
The finish is superb, finely tannic and long-lasting

Pair with hearty meat sauces, beef, or hare a la royale.
