This is an amazing example of Pinot noir from Germany. A wine that has true elegance and style, everything a Burgundy would have to offer at a fraction of the price. The nose is very typical for a Pinot Noir, with lots of berries, cassis, and violets. Also, with time it develops a hint of spices like liquorice, mint, and a cola-like character. Nice colour and silky tannins. Very round and elegant in the mouth, with a good length.
Soft strawberry and raspberry notes on the nose.
The palate displays light red fruit flavours, a touch of spice and very smooth tannins.
Carl Koch produces all their wine in a "natural" method, meaning minimal intervention.
Drink in its youth.
Match with pan fried duck breast and roasted vegetables.
