How J. Laurens continue to make this incredible Crémant for such a low price is a total mystery. It's made in the same painstaking traditional way as Champagne, from the domaine's best parcels of vines - and tastes better than many Champagnes we've tried at double the price.
All the separate parcels of grapes were all hand harvested, once received in the Fulham cellar they under went whole bunch pressing. The juice of the grapes was fermented in the Egg, with the final stages of fermentation being carried out in the bottle. This captures the carbon dioxide given off by the yeast and provides a natural fizz.

A brilliantly rich and satisfying entry-level Champagne that comes from esteemed grower Champagne house, Henri Giraud. Family owned since the 1600s, their 20 hectares of vineyard are comprised of 35 Grand Cru parcels, planted with Pinot Noir & Chardonnay. They are one of the few houses (alongside Krug is another example) that conduct all primary fermentations in oak and all the wood for their barrels comes from the high quality trees of the ancient forest of Argonne, lying just 35 miles from the estate.
"The pink wave sweeping the wine world at present hasn’t left Champagne behind -- but Champagne’s way with pink wine is as distinctive as the rest of its wine offer. You cannot make wines here which are vanishingly pale, petal-pretty and evanescent: there is just too much character, strike and drive on offer in Champagne’s raw materials. There are many great Champagne ripostes to the pink festival of restraint elsewhere, but this salmon-copper rose, with its cavalier autumn fruits and its sheer breadth and audacity of flavour, struck our judges as one of the most memorable. Long, bold flavours subside slowly, vinously and lingeringly in this great gastronomic rose wine." Decanter 97pts
