Produced from the single vineyard, 'Hermanschachern', which mirrors the soils of Chablis; rich in ancient fossils and oyster shells. Full-bodied, with great acidity, this excellently shows site definition. This is a Grand Cru of Austrian wines. The vineyard is now certified organic and suitable for vegans.
90/100 - From 40+-year-old vines on shale limestone soils in a south-facing vineyard and vinified in stainless steel, the 2021 Ried Hermannschachern Grüner Veltliner opens with an intense and refreshing mineral and limestone-driven bouquet of white fruits and sur lie notes. Aged on the lees until April and bottled in late spring of this year, this is a round, vivacious and elegant Veltliner with playful acidity and fine phenolic grip on the stimulating and saline finish. This is a supple Veltliner with an aromatic, juicy and finely tannic finish. 12.5% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted in November 2022. - Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate

After three months on lees, the wine is filtered and matured in stainless steel vats.
