Using the very first plantings in the Sta. Rita Hills appellation, Sandhi have produced an elegantly poised Chardonnay with irresistible concentration and texture.
94/100 - Each of Sandhi's Santa Rita Hill Chardonnays exhibits a thrilling verve and intensity. However, the Sanford & Benedict bottling, sourced from a vineyard planted in 1971 at a lower elevation than the Patterson, shows an openness of fruit and delightfully floral perfume that lend hedonism and immediacy. Bright-eyed and delightfully steely, it's a finely focused wine that's enjoyable now but likely to mature well.- Anna Lee C. Ijima, Decanter
92/100 - The 2021 Chardonnay Sanford & Benedict is ethereal, gracious and light on its feet. This is an especially airy, perfumed style of S&B Chardonnay with notable aromatic inclusion and perhaps a bit less mid-palate presence. Light tropical accents lend an exotic flair. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous
93/100 - The 2021 Chardonnay Sanford & Benedict is scented of white peach, roasted almonds, fresh bread and beeswax with savory undertones. The light-bodied palate is silky and bright with gregarious orchard fruit and a long, nuanced finish. - Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate
94/100 - Lovely aromas of white flower and stone fruit are set against a crushed stone minerality on the compelling nose of this bottling. Bright lemon and riper apple flavors meet with a similarly stony element on the tightly textured palate. - Matt Kettmann, Wine Enthusiast
95/100 - Apricot, pineapple, tart-tatin and candied-apple aromas. Full and fine tannins. Bright acidity and a tangy finish with pie crust and salted caramel. Drink or hold. - James Suckling

A rich wine; dominant aromas of mineral laced stone fruit and lemon; complex layers of fruit on the finish.
Vines are over forty years old and are planted on hard silica gravel and well drained soils.
Wines go through malolactic fermentation but lees are not stirred or suspended.
Patience will pay off, with this wine drinking best 3 to 8 years after the vintage.
This is a wine for a creamy chicken dish.
