Mas D'Amile

Mas d’Amile produce the ultimate in garage wines, genuinely made in a garage! Garagiste is a term used to describe a small-scale wine operation – usually operating outside the norm in some way. It has become fairly common to apply this term to pretty much every small-scale wine making operation going but in this case we can promise Mas d’Amile fulfil the criteria. Although they do now have a cellar outside Montpeyroux as well as a garage…

This wonderfully petite operation began when brother and sister Amélie and Sébastien d’Hurlaborde inherited a hectare of ancient old Carignan vines from their Grandfather. They produced their first wine in 2007 and it was actually pretty good. Today that hectare has expanded to become seven hectares of old vine Grenache, Syrah, Mouvédre, Merlot and Terret Blanc.

Farmed biodynamically since 2015, Amélie’s husband Jérome now helps out and Amélie works for the Domain full time. They make five wines, two from historic Languedoc grapes (Vieux Carignan and Terret), a luscious rosé, an AOP Launguedoc-Montypeyroux and an AOP Terrasses du Larzac – both blends of Grenache, Syrah and Carignan. Absolutely everything is done by hand on these wonderful vineyards 40 miles km north of Montpellier.
